Photographs have been capturing the most important moments of our lives for almost 200 years. This year after all we’ve been through, photos are very valuable and occupy a central place in our guide. In 2022, photographs will be witnesses of how we come closer again and try to go back to normalcy while we still struggle to overcome the difficulties we carry from previous years.

We’re living with a pandemic that has shaken the world, but it seems like the entire planet has begun to recover. Photographs are capturing how we all reunite again: couples, families, friends… We can finally feel each other again side by side.
In Motion
We’ve stayed long times at home without the possibility of doing outdoor activities, so this new year will be plenty of dynamic photographs showing vitality, sport, health… Going to concerts again, reuniting and doing what we like the most isn’t just a cause for celebration, it’s worth photographing.

Social Activism

2. Vector Trends
For years now, visual trends aren’t only focused on photographs but also illustrations and vector designs… and 2022 won’t be different.
This year, bright colors combined with traditional cartoon designs will be a must. In contrast, we’ll see that the use of neutral colors will offer calm to the visual stimuli of old school designs.
Traditional Cartoon
Illustrations will pay homage to iconic cartoons, so designs using New Traditional Cartoon style will be a trend in 2022. The old school will meet the new one creating an explosion of bright colors and crazy animated cartoons similar to the original ones. Psychodelic and strange deformations and effects will be present in vectorial backgrounds.
Diversity & Inclusion
Like in the photography world, social activism and inclusion will also be present in vectors and illustrations. Pastel vector palettes will show people advocating for diversity, equality and plurality. Share again means being together again. Serif Fonts
Along with the neutral tones, serif fonts will return this 2022 and together they’ll give designs a sense of luxury and exclusivity. Golden details will be used to provide mockups and product design with a glimpse of sophistication.
3. Mockup Trends
Regarding mockups, this year we’ll see an interesting blend of simple and elegant technological designs alongside rustic and rural elements.
Nature Mockups
As we can see, ecological matters will be one of the main themes of 2022. Elements of nature will be even featured in the mockup world. Products will be presented on backgrounds decorated with tree trunks, plants, leaves and flowers. These elements will be either directly presented or suggested as shadows.
Back to Basics
Sober and clean designs will also be present in cards, posters or magazine designs. The product will be the lead, so the mockup won’t include ornaments or filigree. The use of serif fonts will give mockups an elegant touch.
Golden Mockups

4. Icon Trends
These little images have been gaining relevance in the world of design since their first appearance. Nowadays, in a digitalized culture like the one we live in, icons are becoming essential pieces for any design, either as graphic systems themselves or as indications for a correct UI/UX. Let’s see what 2022 has in store for these key elements!
Detailed Offset Lineal
One of the characteristics of traditional illustrations is offset printing details. In 2022, we’ll see how this style will make its entry into the world of digital icons to give a fresher and more innovative look to the flat color style.
The most popular palettes will show vintage colors combined with black. Also, icons will combine their thin lines with little dotted patterns that will give them a special texture.
Stickers
Anyone with a social media profile knows that stickers are here to stay. Next year, they’ll play an even more important role, as they’re key elements in the world of digital design (mainly because of their versatility and the ease with which they can communicate an idea.)
Basic Sheer Flat
Transparent shapes will help to transform simple icons into complex design elements. This type of images are inspired by risograph. We’ll see how vibrant colors overlap to create an attractive blend of shapes and tones.

5. Color Palette Trends

Orange Blues
Vibrant and strident colors. The coming year will bring palettes that will combine contrasting tones, where bright oranges will play with the darker tones making the complementary elements of the designs stand out. This trend will be present in vectors, and especially in cartoons.
Neo Neons
The return to more retro styles can be appreciated in the neon color palettes. It will be very interesting to see how the light effects will give the designs a classic but renewed style by using mainly reds, oranges and purples.
Winter Vibes
We’ve stressed the use of bright palettes, but sober and desaturated palettes will also be a trend in the second half of 2022. Dark tones will bring calm to the designs and compositions.
Green Fields
Reconnecting with Mother Nature is a theme that will be recurring throughout the coming year, so another palette that will stand out will include natural colors like green browns combined with yellow. They will help to give an ecological mood to the images.
